Established in 2002, SCAD* is a not-for-profit organisation with realistic goals: to reduce the number and improve the lives of Bangkok’s strays and, in so doing, create a happier and healthier environment for all to enjoy.
By involving residents and local businesses in neighbourhoods affected by large numbers of strays, we aim to encourage a better understanding of their plight and a readiness to tackle the problem at community level using humane and effective methods. By sharing the knowledge required to be responsible pet owners, SCAD hopes to kindle in people the belief that showing kindness to all the animals that share our world has far better consequences for humankind than apathy or cruelty.
SCAD sets high-impact, relevant and realistic objectives through its three programmes :
Community spay/neuter projects - working in project Thai communities sterilising, vaccinating and treating a target population of cats and dogs, backed up by responsible pet ownership messages and stray animal management information.
Adoptions - matching the perfect cat or dog to the perfect family! All animals are assessed and cared for until an appropriate home is found.
Education - working with today’s youth to promote responsible pet ownership messages and raise awareness of animal welfare issues.
SCAD is run by dedicated volunteers and a handful of enthusiastic staff. SCAD receives no government funding and is totally reliant on the kindness of supporters and donors - both individual and corporate.

SCAD is delighted to have the help and support of the Jerhigh team. Together we aim to bring SCAD's message to a wider audience in Thailand in the hope that we can all share in helping promote compassion and understanding for Thailand's strays. The SCAD team is also very happy to have a monthly supply of delicious dog snacks from Jerhigh to help them with training for the animals in adoption programme as well as giving a special treat to some of the animals undergoing long-term medical care at SCAD.
